Pirates visit Weequahic High School
Newark, N.J. — Part of Onward Setonia’s vision for Seton Hall men’s basketball is continuing the program’s involvement in the vibrant community that surrounds the University through the game of basketball.
That was the case on Wednesday, Sept. 4, when the Pirates visited Weequahic High School in Newark and put on clinic sponsored by Hall Ball Events and Onward Setonia. Dozens of young kids had the chance to learn from the Pirates as they went through drills and spoke to multiple student-athletes one-on-one about their experiences.
“All of us know that we have a platform as Seton Hall men’s basketball players,” said graduate student guard Dylan Addae-Wusu. “Days like today is another example of how our talents can change the lives of young people and we don’t have to go far to do it. This is a great community and giving back through basketball makes us feel grateful the opportunities given to us by Onward Setonia.”
The clinic took place following Seton Hall men’s basketball head coach Shaheen Holloway’s annual Back To School Giveaway at the Newark Westside Salvation Army. For the second consecutive year, Holloway and men’s basketball student-athletes helped pass out free school supplies to local children in Newark, equipping them with the newest and best supplies as the new school year got underway.
